35th Anniversary New England Fiddle Contest
10 am-6 pm in Center Park
Bring your blankets and chairs and get ready to meet friends old and new at this annual 'rite of spring' for the fiddle world. Watch and listen to New England’s best fiddlers from age 5 to 85 compete for cash prizes and trophies. Enjoy traditional toe-tapping fiddle music of the judged competition and jam sessions throughout the day. CT's Bristol Old Tyme Fiddlers Club will provide intermission entertainment. South Manchester History Hunt, 10 am
To encourage curiosity about its locations, S.H.A.R.E. is sponsoring a free and fun History Hunt. Details and the self-guiding form are available at Cheney Hall. Starts at 10 a.m., and the Cheney Hall exhibits close at 3 p.m., but several of our sites are open later in the afternoon. S.H.A.R.E., the South Manchester History, Arts, Recreation, & Education collaborative, is inviting the public to visit FREE the sites of the members of the group: Cheney Hall, Downtown, Fire Museum, Lutz Children's Museum, Mary Cheney Library, Manchester History Center, Old Manchester Museum, Cheney Homestead, and Keeney Schoolhouse.
